Doggone, local K9 gets beat by wire fox terrier at Westminster
NEW YORK - A dog from Baton Rouge didn't make the final cut to be crowned America's top dog.
Instead of Coco, a Cardigan Welsh corgi from the Capital City, Sky the wire fox terrier won best in show at the 138th Westminster Kennel Club on Tuesday night. Sky also beat a standard poodle, a Portuguese water dog, bloodhound, an Irish water spaniel and a miniature pinscher.
Coco is owned by Dina Manship Planche and is five years old.
Coco already won best in breed and best in group.
There were 2,845 dogs entered in the show. They were eligible in 190 breeds and varieties.
