A pit bull dog was shot in the head after it bit a narcotics agent with the Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office in the leg.
Deputies say the agent had gone to a residence in Larose to serve a man with papers dealing with plans to seize alleged drug money.
Albert Bell of Larose was given citations for allowing the animal to roam and not having it vaccinated.
The dog was taken to an animal hospital for treatment.
The agent's bite wound was not considered serious.
The Lafourche sheriff's Internal Affairs division will review the incident.
