BATON ROUGE- A woman with at least eight dogs is getting a chance to make things right, after an animal control officer visited her home and checked on the condition of the animals.
Neighbors called EBR Animal Control complaining of a smell and poor conditions for Iris Zelaya's dogs.
"We have our family dogs, and we still have people that still don't have homes after they were bussed with Katrina so I have the dogs here," said Zelaya.
The Animal Control officer checked the condition of the dogs and decided they were in good health, and noted all had been spayed or neutered. However, the dogs did not have proper vaccination and licenses.
Zelaya has 72 hours to get the dogs records up to date or she could face a summons.
