Investigators are trying to determine who dumped five dead dogs near the intersection of Plank Road and Hooper Road. East Baton Rouge Parish Animal Control workers picked up the carcasses around noon today.  EBR Animal Control Director Hilton Cole says there could be a wide range of factors. They include pit bull operations, occult activity or people just using the site to dump dogs hit by cars.  He says scars on the dogs will be examined to help make that call.

Workers found a rabies tag on one of the dogs. They say that might help them find the owner. Cole says you should take your pet to the veterinarian or the animal control office for proper disposal.
