BATON ROUGE - According to a local plastic surgeon, dog bites are one of the most common injuries for children going to the emergency room.
Plastic surgeon Dr. Anthony Stephens said nearly half of kids under the age of 12 have been bitten by a dog, and most of the time, the children are bitten by the household dog.
"Every dog has a potential to bite," said Dr. Stephens. "they all have teeth."
Dr. Stephens recommends parents keep a close eye on their kids when they're around dogs.
