Dodgers to visit NY Yankees for first time in decades
UNDATED - For the first time since the 1981 World Series the Los Angeles Dodgers are visiting New York to play the Yankees.
The last time they met in the Big Apple the Dodgers won to take the Series from the New Yorkers and the game was played in the old Yankee Stadium. This afternoon's game is the first of a day-night doubleheader as their scheduled game last night was rained out.
In a quirk of interleague play the two teams have never met in New York, but have played six times in Los Angeles. The Dodgers and Yankees have played in 11 World Series with the Yankees winning eight of the encounters.
Three other day games are on the schedule with Baltimore playing at Detroit, Arizona hosting Miami and San Diego playing at San Francisco.
