BATON ROUGE- The Baton Rouge bus company could face some big fines from the feds.
Documents obtained by News 2 show the Capital Area Transit System chartered buses improperly.
The documents show under previous management there was incomplete paperwork justifying the use of CATS vehicles.
CATS is allowed to charter but has to be paid for the services.
If not it's a violation of federal rules.
Documents show CATS chartered more than 30 times but was paid just once.
"Basically CATS ends up paying twice for that since we didn't recover any revenue. We covered the expenses of operating that bus for that organization," said Interim CEO Bob Mirabito.
There are other questionable uses of CATS vehicles approved by previous leadership which are also being looked at.
