Doctors have only administered about eight percent of the nearly 190,000 swine flu vaccinations that Louisiana has on hand.
Some clinics are calling patients to let them know the vaccine is available and will now be offered to a wider age group.
"We anticipate giving out twice as many," said Dr. Shelley Martin, a pediatrician at the Baton Rouge Clinic, "Last week we were giving it to the two to five-year-olds, and now we've opened it up to two to 24-year-olds."
The Department of Health and Hospitals expects to receive more doses of the vaccine over the next few months.
