Doctor accused of sexual battery with patient
BATON ROUGE - Police arrested a Baton Rouge doctor Friday, accusing him of battery and inappropriate behavior with a female patient.
Cpl. L'Jean McKneely said BRPD officers arrested Dr. Howard Gidden, 63, on suspicion of simple battery and sexual battery.
Investigators said Gidden behaved in an "inappropriate manner" with a 24-year-old female victim on four different doctor's visits starting in April.
In 1994 the state Board of Medical Examiners suspended Gidden's license for 30 days for prescribing excessive quantities of controlled substances to four patients for an extended period of time. He also paid a $5,000 fine and was banned from prescribing controlled substances for three years.
Police asked anyone with information about this incident to contact the Sex Crimes Division at (225) 389-3853.
