Baton Rouge police have arrested a 50-year-old man after DNA evidence linked him to a rape that
occurred more than 20 years ago.

Police said Melvin Green is accused of raping a woman on May 8, 1987.

The victim, who was 25 at the time of the rape, told detectives she was walking near a park when a man approached her from behind.

The arrest warrant said the suspect held a sharp object to the victim's throat and forced her into a bathroom in the park, where he raped her.

Green was booked Wednesday on one count of aggravated rape.
