DIY expert creates baby announcements
BATON ROUGE - DIY expert Julie Laperouse returned to the News 2 set this afternoon to talk about how to make baby door announcements. She says this is a great and easy way to make the announcement of your new addition to your family a special one.
Julie explained how many hospitals allow patients to hang up decorated door announcements. She also showed us a creative way to make these door hang-ups even if the gender is undetermined on your front door at home.
Many of the items Julie used can be easily acquired at your local craft store in the scrapbooking section.
*Any size desired photo frame
*Scrapbook paper of choice
*Scissors or craft razor
*Paint pens/dry erase pens/stick on scrapbooking letters
Julie says to carefully cut the scrapbooking paper to fit the size of the frame glass and place it within the picture frame like you would a regular photo. She says you can decorate the frame with a variety of decorations found in the craft store and glue it on with craft glue. Julie said you can write the name of your baby and weight by using any sort of craft pen or by using a variety of scrapbooking stick on letters. She also said the frame can be hung with decorative ribbon secured onto the back of the frame using upholstery pins.
