ST. AMANT, La.- Ascension Parish President Tommy Martinez signed an executive order closing the Diversion Canal to recreational boat traffic because of flooding from Tropical Storm Lee. The same order was issued for the Amite River.

Some roads and most boat docks are flooded and water is creeping toward homes along Diversion Canal Road.

The Canal Bank Club in St. Amant closed Saturday after water flooded the boat launch and parking lot in front of the business.

"On a normal weekend we would have probably 100 boaters, 100 boats that launch here and go out and enjoy the water," Jonice Rutland, owner of the Canal Bank Club, said.
