The district attorney for Pointe Coupee Parish will not recuse himself from a drunk driving case despite knowing the suspect's family well.
Terri Parker's family filed a formal request last week to have Ricky Ward removed from the case.
Parker died last month after investigators say a car she was riding in was hit by another vehicle driven by Victoria Gosserand. According to investigators, Gosserand's blood-alcohol level was three times the legal limit.
After reviewing the request by Parker's family, Ward told News 2 he chose not to remove his office from the case because he has not received the same request from the other crash victim who survived.
The case goes before a grand jury next month.
