Disgraced Armstrong says he still holds the record
PORTO VECCHIO, Corsica - Lance Armstrong says he still considers himself the record-holder for Tour de France victories, even though his titles were stripped from him for doping.
In an interview with the French paper Le Monde, Armstrong claimed it was impossible in his era to win cycling's showcase race without doping.
Armstrong was stripped of his seven Tour wins from 1999-2005 after the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency exposed as lies his years of denials that he and his teammates doped.
Armstrong told Le Monde the U.S. agency's findings ruined his life. And he claimed it didn't do anything beneficial for cycling.
