LONDON- Some of Princess Diana's most memorable evening gowns sold for more than a million dollars at an auction in London. The highlight was a velvet navy gown Diana wore in 1985 to a gala dinner at the White House where she danced with actor John Travolta. It fetched 240,000 pounds to a man from England. The expected price for the Victor Edelestein gown was set at 300,000 pounds. Diana actually sold dozens of her dresses at a charity auction in New York in 1997. It was a suggestion from her son, Prince William. It was mere months before she died in a car crash in Paris.
