DHH encouraging Medicaid, LaCHIP enrollment

The state health department has begun a week of events to encourage eligible residents to sign up for
Medicaid and the Louisiana Children's Health Insurance Program.
The Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals says this includes door-to-door canvassing in north Louisiana, especially in low-income neighborhoods. It also includes public events around the state, such as public meetings and enrollment events at libraries, pharmacies and businesses.
Dr. Jimmy Guidry, the state health officer, says enrolling in the two insurance programs is the first step toward long-term healthy behavior and regular doctor visits.
Events began Tuesday and continue through April 11.
