Device detonated, Highway 19 remains closed
BATON ROUGE - Zachary police say they have detonated a suspicious package found on Hwy. 19 in Zachary earlier this afternoon.
The suspicious package found was in a mini storage facility and has been taken in to evidence. Police are now searching for the persons who rented the unit where device was found.
Earlier Saturday, the owner of the storage facility found the package while cleaning out a unit after the renter stopped making payments in July.
Police are keeping the road closed and searching the storage space to make sure there are no other explosives. People have been evacuated from their homes as a precaution.
