Man charged with molesting children during parents' study session
GONZALES- In Ascension Parish, a study-group turned into a parent's worst nightmare.
Four children say they were molested.
27-year-old Morris Buckner, of Baton Rouge is in jail for the crimes.
Police say the children range from four to eight years old and it happened while the children's parents were under the same roof.
Gonzales Police Detective Steve Nethken explains, "They all go to college together they all were studying. It ended up being like a barbeque where they could work on a class. And bring their kids."
One of the students was working part-time as a home health nurse. He brought his patient with him.
That patient, Morris Buckner, was alone with the kids as the parents studied.
And that's when one mother, who doesn't want to be identified says the family get-together turned ugly.
She says, "My kids came to me right away. And told me what happened. They knew that I would protect them and believe what they said."
After her children came forward Detectives say more soon followed.
A total of 4 little girls ages 4 to 8.
Detective Nethken says they never would have been able to nab him if the kids didn't feel comfortable talking to their parents.
Nethken says, "You got to have that free communication between you and your child. So that your child feels free enough and comfortable to report something like this."
After an extensive investigation, Buckner was charged with three counts of sexual battery.. And four counts of molestation of a juvenile.
