Despite injury, Colston expects to be productive
METAIRIE - Saints wide receiver Marques Colston has never been to Hawaii.
His teammates would like to see him go the all-expenses-paid route - with Pro Bowl honors. For that to happen, Colston probably will have to record his seventh 1,000-yard receiving season since entering the league in 2006, and do so while coming back from injury.
Colston played much of last season with pain in his left foot. He's missed more than a dozen days of practice since training camp opened in late July. He's practiced this week, and says he's trying to be cautious so his foot can be as healthy as possible when the season opens Sept. 8 against Atlanta.
Quarterback Drew Brees says Colston's toughness leaves him confident the receiver will be reliable once again in 2013.
