BATON ROUGE - The Department of Environmental quality said a chemical leak was quickly addressed at the Baton Rouge Honeywell plant today, and didn't result in any emergency.
A DEQ spokesperson said ten pounds of Trichlorofluoromethane, a form of freon refrigerant, was released from a leaking flange.
The spokesperson said the leak started at 10:50 and was secured at 10:57. They said no one was injured, and no evacuations or monitoring were ordered.
DEQ will do a follow-up inspection of the release later today.
