Deputy on security detail hurt by drunk driver
METAIRIE, La. - A Jefferson Parish sheriff's deputy has been hospitalized after his vehicle was struck as he provided security for a film shoot in Metairie.
The sheriff's office says Deputy Sean Williams' police cruiser was hit about 2:20 a.m. Saturday.
Williams was working a detail and was seated in his car parked at an intersection when a car driven by 33-year-old Rachel Gremillion, of Metairie, hit the police car.
Williams suffered a broken right leg and cuts to the face and mouth. He's listed in stable condition at an area hospital.
Gremillion suffered a broken right ankle. After treatment, the sheriff's office says she was booked with DWI, negligent injury and reckless operation.
