SORRENTO - Sheriff's deputies arrested an Ascension Parish man this weekend after they said he barricaded himself into his home and threatened them.
Deputies arrested Wesley Bowden, 33, of Sorrento after the incident Sunday night on Braud Street.
Chief Tony Bacala said it was initially reported as a domestic disturbance, but when they arrived deputies found Bowden barricaded in the home with a handgun. He said Bowden also threatened to shoot deputies who came near the home.
Bacala said their Crisis Response Team used gas to get Bowden to leave the residence, and deputies arrested him.
Deputies charged Bowden with resisting an officer, five counts of aggravated assault with a firearm, and a fugitive warrant from another agency.
