BELLE ROSE - Sheriff's deputies asked for the public's help today finding an alleged shooting victim in Assumption Parish.

Sheriff Mike Waguespack said Tony Rodriguez Jr., 23, is missing after he was possibly shot during a robbery yesterday.

The sheriff said deputies were called by someone who said their car had been stolen while on Highway 998 in Belle Rose. The victim said Rodriguez was with them, and had been shot in the head during the theft.

Investigators said they were told two men with guns stepped in front of the car, forcing Rodriguez and the other victim out and into a nearby abandoned residence. The other victim told them a fight broke out and Rodriguez was shot, posssibly in the head. The other victim got away and ran to a nearby business to call for help.

When deputies found the abandoned residence it had been set on fire. The State Fire Marshal was called out to the scene, but didn't find any body.

The sheriff asked anyone with information about Rodriguez's whereabouts or this shooting to call the APSO Detectives Division at (985)526-1627 or the Communication Division at (985)369-2912.
