BATON ROUGE-- One is dead and deputies are puzzled after a late-night shooting that took the life of a man nick-named "Lunchmeat."
Larry Williams, 19, was shot in the side before he died next to an apartment on Jade Avenue just after 10:30 Monday night, according to shaken neighbors who tried to save him.
"We turned him over and was doing CPR on him, but unfortunately he died," said man who didn't want to be identified said with a sigh. "It was just a horrible sight, a horrible scene."
When deputies arrived, Sheriff Sid Gautreaux said more than 60 people were outside, but no one came forward to point out the gunman. Now, they are investigating on limited information.
"There was a group of individuals chasing the victim prior to him being shot," Gautreaux said, adding that investigators don't know much more than that.
Now some neighbors are stepping up, encouraging others to come forward with information.
"I'm a grown man, and I wouldn't dare get in an argument with a 19, 22 or 23-year-old man, because they don't value life, and the reason they don't value life is because they'll kill ya, and they won't think twice about it-- over a simple argument," Darin Fontenette said.
If you have any information on Williams' murder, call the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office.
