LABADIEVILLE - Sheriff Mike Waguespack released the name of an Ascension Parish man suspected of burglary and fleeing from authorities when they came to arrest him.

The sheriff said Emanuel Britton, 33, of Labadieville was wanted for aggravated burglary and resisting arrest for an incident early this morning.

He said a woman was coming out of a store on Hwy 1 in Labadieville when she found a man suspected to be Britton in her vehicle. She said the man pushed her away, and she went back inside to call authorities.

When sheriff's deputies arrived they said she pointed the man out, and he fled into a nearby cane field. Deputies searched the area but weren't able to find him.

The sheriff said investigators obtained an arrest warrant for Britton later this afternoon. Anyone with information about his whereabouts should contact the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office at (225) 621-8300.
