BATON ROUGE - Sheriff's deputies said a man dressed as a construction worker robbed a bank in East Baton Rouge this afternoon.
Spokesperson Casey Rayborn Hicks said it happened around 2 p.m. at the Whitney Bank on 7890 Jefferson Highway.
She said a man came in and gave a teller a note demanding money. He took off on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash, some of which he dropped in a nearby parking lot. An orange dye pack was in the money, and is believed to have gone off.
Hicks said the man was last seen running north on Jefferson. He was described as a black man, 5'10" with thin facial hair, and was wearing a hard hat, white t-shirt, blue jeans, and a yellow or lime green reflector vest. He may also be covered in orange dye.
Anyone with information about this robbery should contact the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office at (225) 389-5000.
