Deputies play Santa in Livingston Parish
DENHAM SPRINGS - Deputies in Livingston Parish will be playing Santa this weekend.
Hundreds of gifts were delivered to children across the parish as part of Sheriff Jason Ard's Christmas Crusade. Dozens of deputies battled the rain Friday morning to load up their cruisers with toys donated by the community.
The Christmas Crusade is a huge project that takes all year to plan. With the help of businesses, schools and even 'Dukes of Hazard' star John Schneider, over 1,200 underprivileged children will have a Merry Christmas. The sheriff says he loves being part of a community that believes in the cause.
"The deputies that do the volunteer work, the community, the business owners all reach out to us because they believe in the program and know there's a need," he told News 2's Kylie Dixon this morning on Breakfast with 2une In
This is the 27th year of the toy drive.
