Deputies looking into double murder connections
NEW ROADS - Pointe Coupee Parish Sheriff's deputies said they arrested a man for having a gun at the Sugar Shack night club the night of a double murder earlier this week.
Terry Matthews was charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm. Friday, the sheriff's office was looking into whether Matthews was connected to the shooting deaths of siblings Sinica and Lechelle Williams.
Deputies did not release specific information about Matthews' arrest, but said they know he was at the club the night Mardi Gras ended when the Williams were killed.
Deputies are still looking for the man identified as the killer, Jamie Croom.
Investigators are spending all hours of the day searching for Croom and connecting the dots in the case, Capt.Steven Juge said.
