Deputies looking for man who escaped during arrest
GONZALES - Sheriff's deputies are searching for a man who was able to break free from a deputy during the course of an arrest Monday night.
The Ascension Parish Sheriff's office sent an alert, asking people in the area of Airline Highway and Highway 74 to be on the lookout for the man who got away from the deputy. The man took off running with his hands handcuffed behind his back.
The man was identified as Ricardo Rodriguez. He was described as being about 6 feet tall, 180 pounds and has black hair and brown eyes. He was wearing a purple or blue t-shirt and dark sweat pants and tennis shoes when he escaped.
Rodriguez is wanted for sex crimes out of Georgia, the sheriff's office said.
Deputies used an alert system consisting of a department-issued robocall to people who live in the area and some people reported getting text messages about the incident.
