GEISMAR - Deputies in Ascension Parish arrested one person and are looking for a second after a suspected meth lab exploded Thursday night.

Investigators were called to 37313 LA 74, lot 181 after a witness reported hearing a loud explosion then saw flames coming from a bedroom window.

The witness told deputies he saw a man leaving the residence with a large garbage bag. Deputies say they found items in the residence consistent with the manufacture of methamphetamine.

Deputies are looking for Ryan Espinoza, 31. He's facing charges of creation of a clandestine lab, simple arson, possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Espinoza's girlfriend, Christy Cockerham, 35, was arrested at the home.

She's jailed on charges of creation of a clandestine lab and possession of drug paraphernalia.
