ABITA SPRINGS - Sheriff's deputies in St. Tammany Parish asked for help identifying a man wanted for robbing an Abita Springs drug store Saturday night.

Deputies said a man entered the Walgreens at 70997 Hwy 59 in Abita Springs around 7:30 p.m. and grabbed cash from the register when the cashier was giving another customer change.

The robber then ran from the store and left the scene. Deputies said they were driving a silver four-door Pontiac Grand Am.

Law enforcement said the man is also believed to have used the same approach to rob a Walgreens in Covington, and said anyone with information about that crime should contact Covington Police at (985) 867-1200.

Anyone who recognizes the suspect or the vehicle from the Abita Springs robbery is urged to contact Detective Matt Vazquez at (985) 726-7830.
