Deputies investigate yet another shooting in Donaldsonville Wednesday
DONALDSONVILLE - Deputies spent Wednesday night investigating yet another shooting in this usually quiet Ascension Parish community.
Witnesses told authorities they heard two shots. Deputies collected casings from the scene but did not find a shooter. No one was hit in the gunfire.
The town has become busy with crime scene investigators since there have been a series of shootings in the last few days.
Wednesday, the deputies were called to Elizabeth Street. A mile away, two people were murdered near St. Patrick and Latino Road on Monday. Last week, a deputy was shot on St. Patrick about four blocks from Wednesday's shooting and a teenager was shot in the face near Elizabeth and Front Street, also off St. Patrick.
Investigators have made arrests in the shootings of the sheriff's deputy and the teenager.
Monday night, shortly after the murder, the community gathered for a crime vigil. The gathering's timing was coincidental but people said they were frustrated about the issues on the streets.
