Deputies ID teenage victim of Hammond shooting
HAMMOND - The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office identified the teenage victim of an early morning shooting on Monday and released more information about the cause.
Deputies said 16-year-old Hector Dotey of Hammond died yesterday from a gunshot wound to the head.
TPSO detectives believe Hector was shot at his residence on Willow Villa Rd. at around 3:30 a.m. on Monday morning.
It is also believed that the shooting was caused by a dispute that began at the Black Heritage Center earlier that morning and continued on to Dotey's residence, according to investigators.
Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff Daniel Edward said Wednesday morning that they are offering an additional $2,500 reward for information leading up to an arrest in the shooting of Dotey.
Sheriff Edward asked anyone with information about the shooting to call the Tangipahoa Sheriff's Office at (985) 345-6150.
