BATON ROUGE - Investigators want to know why a student brought a gun to Broadmoor Middle School Thursday morning.

Deputies with the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office said a student reported seeing two students with a gun.

School officials found the unloaded .25 caliber handgun in the backpack of a 15-year-old 8th grader.

A 13-year-old 7th grader allegedly gave the weapon to the student.

Both students will be booked into juvenile detention on charges for carrying of a firearm by a student on school property.
