BATON ROUGE - Deputies retrieved a woman's body from a vehicle which drove off into a canal near the Mall of Louisiana this afternoon.
The sheriff's office released that information shortly before 6 p.m., four-and-a-half hours after the car reportedly drove off a frontage road and into the canal.
Divers and rescue crews in boats found the vehicle after an hours-long search in the water. Sheriff's deputies didn't release the woman's name, only saying she was a white, elderly female.
News 2's Kristy Davis will have more on this operation and investigation tonight at 10 p.m.
