Deputies capture gunman in trailer park shooting
PRARIEVILLE - Ascension Parish Deputies have captured the suspected gunman following a shooting early Tuesday morning.
Deputies charged Jiterrance Brown, 25, with two counts of attempted murder. They think he shot Monique Delmore, 31, as she escorted Edgar Westbrook, 42, to his car this morning.
Westbrook was shot in the arm and was able to flee, but Delmore was hit in her side and locked herself inside the trailer to get away from the shooter.
Deputies had to remove an air conditioning unit from the window to get to Delmore, who was fighting to survive.
"She was in critical condition, certainly every second counts when you're fighting for your life and certainly their actions, their quick prompt actions to gain entry into the trailer and allow EMS to get to her and treat probably saved her life," said Chief Criminal Deputy Tony Bacala.
Investigators believe Brown is Delmore's ex-boyfriend and think that may have played a role in the shooting.
Brown also faces charges for illegal use of a weapon, domestic abuse and trespassing.
