Deputies bust pair for loot of drugs in bed of truck
BERTRANDVILLE -The Assumption Parish sheriff's department arrested two men after the found drugs in the bed of a pickup truck Friday.
Deputies arrested 30-year-old Brandon Harris and 26-year-old Wilbert Caldwell for having over six pounds of weed and multiple bags of other drugs including crack cocaine, ecstasy pills and Adderall pills. Deputies also say Harris has over $600 in cash and Caldwell had about $400 in cash as well.
Authorities say the drug bust happened when deputies were called out to Bertrand Street after they got reports that someone was receiving threats. Deputies then spotted the pair on the street next to a pickup truck. Investigators say they saw Caldwell throwing small bags on the ground, and when questioned both suspects appeared nervous and kept glancing at the bed of the truck.
Both suspects were booked into Assumption Parish Detention Center where they face multiple drug related charges including possession and intent to distribute drugs. Bond has not been set for either.
