PIERRE PART- Assumption Parish Deputies arrested a man Monday after a traffic stop revealed he was in possession of over 130 pain killers with intent to distribute them.

Cody J. Theriot, 32, of 322 Shell Beach Rd. was arrested for possession with intent to distribute schedule IV controlled dangerous substances and illegal possession of controlled dangerous substances in the presence of persons under 17 years of age.

On Monday Feb. 27, deputies stopped a vehicle with what they believed to be an illegal tint over the windows.

Inside the vehicle was Theriot, a female driver, and a one-year-old baby.

Deputies say during the traffic stop, Theriot was witnessed stuffing an object into his jeans. Deputies asked Theriot to exit the vehicle to be patted down to which he complied.

While being searched, deputies say a prescription bottle containing 113 pills of the narcotic Xanax fell from his jeans.

Deputies booked Theriot in the Assumption Parish Detention center on a $10,000 bond.
