Dept. of Education website back online
BATON ROUGE - The Louisiana Department of Education's website is back online after a bill payment issue caused it to temporarily go down Monday.
The LouisianaBelieves.com website was replaced by a "domain for sale" placeholder after the bill payment didn't process, according to the Department of Administration. The incident happened the same day that Jindal and Superintendent of Education John White were back in court over a lawsuit filed to stop the governor's attempts to end the Common Core educational standards in Louisiana. The issue has created a divide between White, who supports Common Core, and Jindal, who has said he sees Common Core as unduly removing the state's control from Louisiana education.
A Department of Administration spokesperson said the website incident was a technical error, and the result of unfortunate timing.
