BATON ROUGE - Dentists hope cold, hard cash will help prevent future cavities - and make things sweeter for soldiers serving overseas - as they seek to buy back uneaten Halloween candy.

Several dentists around the Baton Rouge area singed up to take part in the annual Halloween Candy Buyback program. It's run by Operation: Gratitude, which willl send collected candy in care packages to soldiers serving abroad.

Dentists who sign up choose to either pay money or give other incentives, such as gift certificates or toothbrushes, for candy brought to their practices.
