DENHAM SPRINGS- A woman wants answers after she says fake-checks with her name on them are turning up all over the south.

Paulette Lacombe claims someone wrote more than $4,000 in phony checks with her account number and forged signature.

Lacombe says she recently mailed her son a birthday card.. With a check inside.

He received it, but she thinks someone else got to it first.

Lacombe says, "Maybe it could even be a dishonest Post Office employee. They could've taken it home and steamed it open."

She adds, "Maybe they just wrote the numbers down, put it back in the envelope and mailed it."

The U.S. Postal Service says they have no comment on this case.

The Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office is investigating.
