DENHAM SPRINGS – Deputies in Livingston Parish say a Denham Springs police officer was arrested Thursday on stalking charges.

According to Livingston Parish Sheriff Jason Ard, investigators learned that Sergeant Larian McMurray continued to contact a victim following the end of a long-term relationship.

Ard also said McMurray made threats against the victim.

Denham Springs Police interim chief J. Shanon Womack said that McMurray has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the LPSO investigation.

"Domestic violence is an ever-growing concern in our society," Womack said. "We do not take allegations lightly and will strive to ensure that this investigation and any resulting actions are carried out in accordance with the law."

McMurray was booked into the Livingston Parish Detention Center.
