DENHAM SPRINGS - Denham Springs Marshal Jerry Denton says he's dropping out of the race for the First Circuit Court of Appeal.

Denton says it's because he has not been able to raise the money necessary in the short time available.

The election is April 6th.

His candidacy was challenged by Charles Christmas who claims Denton failed to disclose more than a quarter-of-a-million-dollar federal tax lien.

Denton maintains he met all requirements to fun for the judgeship.

With Denton dropping out, Ernest G. Drake, Jr. is the only candidate listed on the Secretary of State's website.
