WALKER - A wreck on I-12 in Livingston Parish killed a Denham Springs man and shut down the interstate for hours, according to police.
Walker Police said a 57-year-old Denham Springs man died when he lost control of his truck, crossed the median on I-12 and was hit by an 18-wheeler.
The investigators said it happened around 12:15 p.m. on I-12 eastbound near the Satsuma exit east of Walker. He said the pickup was going west when it passed an 18-wheeler and clipped its front while trying to merge back into the right lane.
The pickup went into the median, rotated and wound up in the eastbound lane of I-12, where it was hit on the driver's side by a different 18-wheeler.
The pickup driver was killed, while the 18-wheeler driver was uninjured. The wreck closed the interstate for nearly three hours.
Police would not release the name of the pickup driver, pending notification of his family.
