Denham Springs delays group home decision
DENHAM SPRINGS, La. - The City Council wants to think a bit more about a proposed group home for young women.
The Advocate reports Door of Hope Ministry asked the city to grant a zoning variance that would allow it to open a home for up to 20 young women who have been victims of various forms of abuse.
Council members expressed concern about the condition of the proposed site, a building on 4-H Club Road where the religious group hopes to operate the group home.
Though supportive of the group's work, Councilwoman Annie Fugler said some are residents are concerned because of problems experienced when a different group home operated at the site several years ago.
The council delayed action on the proposal at its meeting this past week.
