Denham Springs Councilman booked with DWI, Hit & Run
DENHAM SPRINGS- Denham Springs Councilman Christopher Davis was arrested this morning for driving while intoxicated, hit and run, flight from an officer, careless operation, no proof of insurance and driving without a license.
State Troopers said around 5:30am they responded to a hit and run call on Highway 16 near Amite Church Road. One of the witnesses who called 911 actually followed the driver who caused the crash according to State Troopers.
Troopers said Davis refused to stop until he pulled into his driveway of his home in Denham Springs.
"We required that he submit to a breath and blood test," Trooper Russell Graham said. "He refused. Our Trooper obtained a warrant and took his blood and submitted it to the State Police Crime Lab."
Those test results should be available in a few days. No one was seriously hurt in the crash.
Davis bonded out of jail on a $2,900 bond.
