The Environmental Protection Agency has contracted with United States Environmental Services for the cleanup at Coco Resources on Eden Church Road in Denham Springs.
A burm is being built around the site to prevent any runoff or contaminates from spreading.
Additional vacuum trucks have been brought in to ensure that ditches in the area will retain water from a possible rain event.
Some families are still displaced at this time.
Eden Church Road between the railroad tracks and Eve Drive will remain closed to thru traffic until further notice.
The EPA and DEQ continue to constantly monitor air, water and soil throughout the area. Any residents needing to gain entry to their homes for medications, clothing, etc. are asked to contact the Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office at (225) 686-2241 before coming to the area.
