Decorating with metallics
BATON ROUGE - Interior Designer Rachel Lewis of Rachel Cannon Lewis Interiors shared trends in metallic finishes.
She showed examples including a brushed brass faucet, fabrics, wallpapers, and even light fixtures - all with warm gilt surfaces.
Lewis explained that while these colors might be reminiscent of bygone eras, they have been reinvented to work with today's color palettes.
Rachel was quick to point out that brushed or satin nickel is not "out of style" but the newest items on the marketplace are in warm metallics, probably due in part to the popularity of gray paints and fabrics, to which they can add a little warmth.
For consumers who are not ready to throw out all of their brushed nickel fixtures, Lewis says ‘gilver' (a cross between gold and silver) is a good option for a quick update.
