Decimal error means customers charged 10x more
BATON ROUGE- ATMOS customers who are enrolled in automatic drafts or bill pay may have noticed extremely high bills recently.
A company spokesperson said a vendor, hired to collect monthly bills from customers, accidentally misplaced a decimal and drafted up to ten times more than what should have been taken.
ATMOS is working with customers, and either wiring money directly into banking accounts or crediting accounts where money was not immediately drafted.
ATMOS hopes to have the issues resolved by Wednesday, Trey Hill said.
In an unrelated issue, ATMOS is also reporting problems with upgrades to its new billing system. Customers may be experiencing long hold times when calling customer service representatives.
Hill said customers should call ATMOS directly if they believe problems have not been resolved.
