BATON ROUGE - Sheriff's deputies have released the name of the man they say shot and wounded two law enforcement officers before taking his own life Thursday.

Authorities arrived to the Magnuson Hotel just before 1:30 a.m. to arrest Jessie Gordon, who had multiple drug and burglary warrants out in East Baton Rouge and Livingston parishes.

Investigators say the 22-year-old began shooting at the officers when they entered the room. A deputy then returned fire.

One of them, along with a state trooper, suffered minor injuries.

Gordon was later found dead inside the room by the parish SWAT team from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
